Grand piece of work! But, something I've wondered; how does someone go about making the eye cups on something like this?

i saw those black ones, i wonder, do you think you can try and put a reticle on one (or possibly both) of the eyepieces?

It depends on what particular reticle should it be. Overlense brass reticle, brass mesh, laser-engraved reticle on the lense itself (don't like stuff like that, but it's also possible) or perhaps a brass mesh instead of solid side platings? All this can be done, however each addition to the design will reqire different approach, of course. But it is possible as I see it..

yeah, that'd be pretty cool. but what i was actually meaning to say was a red-dot (fixed red-dot sights on the goggles). i know it'd be extremely expensive to do something like that, but in the end it'd almost be a barebones, steampunk HUD.

Well... The most difficult problem of such contraption would be an integration of such a high tech feature into a relatevly modest and simplistic item, especially if the said goggles will be performed in brass and leather. I'd say a small binoculars as an attachment would fit slightly better, but still, too complicated.

These are gorgeous, excellent craftsmanship. May I ask where you get the lenses from?
